The Negroni is a classic cocktail, sophisticated and smart. It’s a drink for people who know what they like, and don’t much care if others don’t share their taste. It packs a punch, too. So, this is a drink for the powerful - not the faint of heat.

It’s the mix of bitter and sweet that makes a Negroni the perfect drink for Cecily. This one uses gin that’s been infused with hibiscus flowers, which adds a rich floral depth and edgy tartness. There’s nothing simple or unexpected about Cecily’s Negroni. But then, there isn’t about Cecily either.

And, of course, that colour…!

Ingredients
35ml Campari
35ml hibiscus infused gin
20ml blood orange juice
15ml sweet red vermouth

To infuse the gin, add a small handful of dried hibiscus flowers to a jug of hot water and allow to infuse for 10 minutes. Strain the flowers and pat dry . Add to a bottle of gin and allow to infuse for 2-3 days.

Method
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker, fill to the brim with ice and stir for 20 seconds. Pour over a heap of ice in a large tumbler. Garnish with edible flowers or a slice of blood orange.
